Two Days In

Hebrews 12:12-13

Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. Make level paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.

Mostly it's been all orientation stuff. New crew orientation, ward orientation, ship orientation, and just getting my bearings. Like I said in my previous post, there was a huge group of us who just got on board and are all learning together, which is nice! I don't feel so new and so alone. Everyone has been great and super friendly.

I will be working as a ward nurse in C-Ward, the pediatric orthopedics unit! To be honest, I'm a bit nervous. I've never really loved peds, and kids kinda freak me out, but maybe thats a good thing! Whenever I don't feel totally comfortable doing something, or feel "clunky" with a skill, I usually try to seek it out on the unit and do it over and over with another nurse. That way I don't feel so intimidated. The anxiety leading up to something I feel is always worse than the actual thing itself. So bring on the children I guess! We will take care of ortho kiddos before and after their surgeries, up to weeks at a time, before they are transferred to a low care unit to continue their rehab and progress. To get a glimpse of what I will be doing, check out the video below from Mercy Ships from previous ortho kiddos!

As for the ship itself and my room, I hit the JACKPOT!! I ended up in a family unit ALONE. So I have my own big private bed and room, two empty rooms, a bathroom, a full size fridge/kitchen area with a dining table and a living space. OH! And my windows are ocean views, 9th floor. This is way too good to be true...it's only a matter of time before I am moved and transferred to a living space with roommates and side by side beds 😂 To be honest, I feel lonely sometimes, no one to say "hey! ready to head to lunch?! what are you up to?! have you had a good day?!" but then I remember I'm introverted and love my alone time and space anyways lol. So I may as well enjoy it as much as I can!
